20 — Outón

(The big bend)

“Outón” in the Airolese dialect means curvone. It is the most imposing bend of the Tremola and was completely rebuilt in 1930–31. The original work, created by the Ticino engineer Francesco Meschini, was more modest. The Tremola was built between 1827 and 1832. In 1830, even if it was not yet completed, it was already in use.
